Projects: Running for a good cause

asphericon shows its sporting side

Once again, aphericon participated in the Jena Team Run, held for the fifth time this year. The run consisted of a 3x1.9 km relay through the beautiful Paradies Park in Jena.

The event, which is organized by Round Table 210 in conjunction with university sports center Jena and Laufladen Jena, is exclusively dedicated to a good cause. This year's proceeds will be donated to the organization "Diabeteszentrum für Kinder und Jugendliche Jena e.V." The organization is dedicated to providing psychosocial assistance and counseling for children and youth who suffer from type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Event organizers welcomed nearly 200 teams from local businesses, athletic departments, civic clubs, agencies and schools. Naturally, asphericon also wanted to be a part of this event, and its four participating teams successfully placed 23rd, 43rd, 49th and 68th. We would like to thank all participating employees for their first-class support. We are already looking forward to the next event in 2011.

Furthermore asphericon is currently sponsoring the Lodeburg school's sports and games festival. With the money raised, the school's partner school in Nicaragua is being supported among other things, new experimental microscopes have been purchased and the grounds around the newly built sports hall have been re-landscaped.
